Vaidyagrama Ayurveda Healing Village
Authentic Ayurveda for universal wellbeing — a classical healing village near Coimbatore
About the centre
Vaidyagrama Ayurveda Healing Village is a classical Ayurveda hospital and ashram on the green outskirts of Coimbatore, founded in 2008 as an initiative of Punarnava Ayurveda. NABH-accredited and AYUSH-registered, it is built — Vastu-wise, in Kerala Nalukettu style with mud blocks and minimal chemicals or plastics — around an uncompromising classical practice: freshly prepared classical medicines, naturally cooked food, daily vaidya consultations and a healing community that lives, prays and eats together. A team of around twenty-six vaidyas, including third-generation physicians, cares for conditions from arthritis and stress to women's health and complex chronic disease, over an advised average stay of three to four weeks. It is a temple of healing as much as a hospital — daily prayer, satsang and nature walks are part of the cure.

The setting
On the outskirts of Coimbatore, protected by mountains and left to grow wild with its own forest and living beings, Vaidyagrama is a true healing village — clusters of Ayurveda cottages built of mud blocks in Kerala Nalukettu style, away from chemicals, plastics and pollution. Born in 2008 from the shared vision of a group of young vaidyas, it lives by the principles of Ayurveda and Vastu shastra: a hospital, a learning ashram and a temple of healing all at once, where the Dhanvantari shrine, the daily prayer and the green silence are as much a part of the medicine as the treatments themselves.

Why we curated this centre
Our honest read.
Vaidyagrama is the uncompromising, classical end of Ayurveda — closer to a traditional hospital and ashram than a wellness retreat. The signs of seriousness are everywhere: NABH accreditation, around twenty-six vaidyas (some third-generation), classical medicines prepared fresh on site, and a willingness to take on complex chronic conditions over real time. It treats Ayurveda as a way of life, not a spa menu — mud-block cottages, naturally cooked food, daily prayer, satsang and chanting, and an advised average stay of three to four weeks. Be clear about what that means for an international guest: this is simple, immersive and devotional, not boutique or five-star, and it asks a genuine commitment of time and routine. There is no hand-holding luxury here — the comfort is in the quiet, the greenery and the care. Best for someone seeking deeply authentic classical Ayurveda for a chronic condition, who wants to live the daily rhythm of a healing village and isn't looking for a polished resort.
